<p>A system, in which there exist base stations corresponding to different versions of standards, such as R99, Rel5 and Rel6, may have only a limited number of available channels. A handover control method wherein it is determined whether any base station selected from active sets is one for which E-DCH can be established; it is then determined whether the communication quality of the wireless link with any base station, for which the E-DCH can be established, can be maintained while the wireless links with the other base stations, for which the E-DCH cannot be established, are opened; and if the communication quality can be maintained, the E-DCH is used to communicate with the E-DCH-capable base station, while the wireless links with the other base stations, for which the E-DCH cannot be established, are opened.</p> |
