<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film which can be used for a protecting film for a deflector of a liquid crystal display device (LCD), define an indication for the sectional quality of the end parts of a targeted optical film, achieve the retention of high quality by securing the end part section of a successful optical film, reducing the amount of released pieces of the film section, preventing the rupture of the film from occurring and improving the dimensional stability of the film and thereby, eliminating its coating defect, and a method for manufacturing the optical film. <P>SOLUTION: In a stretched film take-up device which casts a film material over a metal rotary drum or a metal rotary endless belt (a support) and dries or cools and stretches, and takes up the stretched film after releasing the film, not less than one unit of a device for slitting the end parts of the film, is installed at the end part of at least one side of the right/left sides of the film from the release to the take-up process stage. Further, the sectional surface roughness (arithmetic mean roughness: Ra) of the film slitted by at least the final slitting device, is 0.05 to 1.2 μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
