<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the usability of a remote controller while simplifying the operation of a television receiver. <P>SOLUTION: A touch panel 103 and a button 101 are fitted to a remote controller 100. When an operation sliding the upper-half region of the touch panel 103 in the clockwise or anticlockwise direction while being touched by a finger is conducted, control signals for selecting various selecting items are transmitted by infrared rays in response to the operation, a function selecting screen for the television receiver is, for example, changed, and a desired function can be selected and carried out.
