PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet synchronous motor that balances an iron loss and a copper loss, and is achieved in high efficiency. SOLUTION: A permanent magnet 4 having a remanent flux density of 1.0 to 1.35 T is used when the outside diameter of a stator core 1 is not larger thanϕ50 mm, and when the number of revolutions is set not less than 50,000 r/min, the outside diameter of a rotor core 3 is made to be 0.32 to 0.43 times the outside diameter of a stator, thus balancing the iron loss and the copper loss to obtain high performance.
