PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for measuring engine balance precisely measuring balance of an engine. SOLUTION: The device 1 for measuring engine balance is provided with: an engine support means 2 supporting the engine 10 and permitting it to vibrate; an external driving means 3 driving the engine; a coupling means 4 coupling the output shaft 10a of the engine and a driving shaft 3a of the external driving means to be incapable of being relatively rotated; an axial line shift amount detection means 5 detecting the shift amount between the axial line of the output shaft and the axial line of the driving shaft; a vibration detection means 6 detecting the vibration of the engine driven by the external driving means in the state in which it is supported by the engine support means so as to be capable of vibrating; and an engine balance calculation means 7 calculating the balance of the engine on the basis of the shift amount between the axial line of the output shaft and the axial line of the driving shaft detected by the axial line shift amount detection means, and of the vibration of the engine detected by the vibration detection means.
