PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a biodegradable fiber, by which the biodegradable fiber capable of being self-crimped, capable of increasing the adhesion amount of a spinning oil active ingredient, capable of being used for cushions, nonwoven fabrics and the like, and having a C-type structure can easily and efficiently be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the biodegradable fiber having the C-type structure is characterized by subjecting a side-by-side structure hollow fiber comprising two or more polymers whose at least one is a biodegradable polymer, to a dissolution treatment to dissolve the polymer of at least one component. And, the method for producing the biodegradable fiber having the C-type structure is characterized by subjecting a sheath-core structure fiber which comprises two or more polymers, whose sheath component comprises a biodegradable polymer and whose core component is partially exposed on the outside, to a dissolution treatment to dissolve the polymer of the core component.
