PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical member forming method in which production cost is low, and having enough general applicability. SOLUTION: The cylindrical member forming method comprises: a work production stage where a sheet material is subjected to bending, thus an almost cylindrical work 7 provided with an inside diameter side edge part 73 having an inside diameter side edge face 76 at the tip and an outside diameter side edge part 71 having an outside diameter side edge face 75 arranged at the outside diameter side than the inside diameter side edge face 76 at the tip, and in which an interference fit IF appearing upon arranging the inside diameter side edge face 76 and the outside diameter side edge face 75 on almost the same diameter is secured between the inside diameter side edge part 73 and the outside diameter side edge part 71; and a both edge face joining stage where at least either the inside diameter side edge part 73 or the outside diameter side edge part 71 is deformed so as to consume the interference fit IF, thus the inside diameter side edge face 76 and the outside diameter side edge face 75 are butted, and, utilizing springback force based on the consumption of the interference fit IF, the inside diameter side edge face 76 and the outside diameter side edge face 75 are joined, so as to produce a cylindrical member.
