PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute control for an article to be carried between a single or a plurality of storage means and a plurality of production devices by a plurality of carriages at low cost, simply, and with high reliability based on commands of a control device. SOLUTION: In this automatic carrying system, an ID card 20 including a radio communication function is provided on each carrier 18, and an ID reader/writer 25 including the radio communication function is installed on part of the carriages 10. A carrier ID is read/written to the ID card 20 based on a command of an MCS 4 connected to the ID reader/writer 25, and control of the carrier ID is executed by a carrier ID control part 4a. Every time the carrier 18 is carried in/out by the carriage 10 provided with the ID reader/writer 25, whether or not the carrier ID read from the ID card 20 coincides with a carrier ID stored and controlled in the carrier ID control part 4a is confirmed. When not, the carrier ID in the carrier ID control part 4a is rewritten based on the carrier ID read from the ID card 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
