PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which makes a proper image printing process corresponding to a plurality of printing papers having different characteristics without applying burden to a user. SOLUTION: Under the control by a control section 17, a holder supporting shaft 14 is made to stand by on the upper side. Then, a cam 4 is rotated through a worm gear 9 and gears 8 to 6 by driving a motor 10, and a selecting groove 31 is stopped at the peak position of the highest section, and then, is fixed under this state. Then, the holder supporting shaft 14 is rotate-driven downward, and thus, a positioning pin 3 of a thermal head 1 is inserted in the selecting groove 31. In this case, a holder 5 is pressed in the X direction by the elastic force of a spring 11. The accurate positioning is thereby performed in the X direction by bringing the positioning pin 3 into contact with one side surface of the selecting groove 31. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
