The invention relates to a device for recognising an obstacle in the opening area of a force-actuated closing element, in particular a window pane (12) of a motor vehicle (10) which is provided with a sensor profile (20) which is made from an elastically shapeable material and which has an external surface (25). Said sensor profile (20) comprises a sensitive section (22, 23) and a non-sensitive section (24). The sensor profile (20) is provided with a cavity (26) and at least one electrode (27, 28) at least in the region of the sensitive section (22, 23). According to the invention, in order to obtain a comparatively large action range, an actuation element (40) which transmits a force (F) to the sensitive sections (22, 23) and which engages in the region of the non-sensitive section (24) on the external surface (25) of the sensor profile (20), is provided.
