<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print by carrying out transmission and reception of various information between a portable information terminal and a printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer acquires template catalog data with a plurality of layout templates in which character input regions for synthesizing character information are set, from the portable information terminal together with an imaged picture of arbitrary image data. The printer presents the layout templates. An arbitrary layout template selected by the portable information terminal from the presented plurality of layout templates is extracted. The character information is received from the terminal for inputting the character information to the character input region of the extracted layout template. The received character information is embedded and synthesized in the character input region on the imaged picture of the image data set in the layout template by using the extracted layout temperate.
