PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal reproducing device which starts the automatic reproduction of a video in a dark room to reproduce the video which makes a person feel as if he were there. SOLUTION: The video signal reproducing device is provided with; a video signal reproducing part which reproduces a video signal; and a system controller 14 which controls the video signal reproducing part to reproduce a desired video signal. In this case, the system controller 14 is provided with an illumination sensor 22 which detects the intensity of illumination of an environment for displaying the video signal thus reproduced and begins reproduction when the video signal reproducing part finishes the preparation of the reproduction and the intensity of the illumination detected by the illumination sensor 22 becomes a first reference value or below.
