PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical capacitor capable of reducing voltage dispersions among each unit capacitor in the case of a connection in series, and capable of stably maintaining electrical characteristics for a prolonged term. SOLUTION: The electrochemical capacitor has mutually opposed positive electrode and negative electrode, and an insulating separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode and an electrolyte solution. The electrochemical capacitor further has a case housing the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the separator, and the electrolyte solution under a sealed state. In the capacitor, the electrolyte solution contains a compound capable of reversibly conducting an oxidation-reduction reaction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
