PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic wave transmitter/receiver capable of detecting targets surely from received ultrasonic echo and of detecting a determinate quantity of the target correctly. SOLUTION: A target domain detecting section 10 of a receiving section 2 detect an address the target locates, while generating intensity data at each beam azimuth using each echo signal. On this occasion, the target domain detecting section 10 impregnate the intensity data at a predetermined extent while maintaining azimuth information. On the other hand, a determinate quantity data detecting section 20 generates also the intensity data at each beam azimuth using the aforementioned echo signals but do not impregnates the intensity data. By integrating the intensity data from the determinate quantity data detecting section 20 based on address information from the target domain detecting section 10, a data synthesizing section 16 detects fish amount to output to an indicator 2. The indicator 2 displays fish amount obtained by the determinate quantity data detecting section 20 for fish community, while displaying the detected imagery based on the intensity data obtained by the target domain detecting section 10.
