PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piling stopping level checking device which is for use in piling for constructing a foundation of a house or the like, and supports the operator in carrying out monitoring work until the piling is achieved down to an adequate piling stopping level, and to provide a piling stopping level checking method. SOLUTION: The piling stopping level checking device 6 is for use in checking whether a pile is driven into the ground through a predetermined penetration amount, and formed of main body portions 6a to 6c almost vertically arranged on the ground surface, and an indication rod 6d attached to a lower edge of the main body portions 6a to 6c, and almost horizontally arranged on the ground surface. The main body portions 6a to 6c have scale portions 6m, 8a for measuring a first reference height H1set at an arbitrary distance from the ground surface, and the expandable portion 6c for changing the length of the main body portions 6a to 6c. Thus by making a distance (y+z) from a point corresponding to the first reference height H1on the main body portion to a location at which the indication rod 6d is arranged on the main body portions 6a to 6c, coincide with a distance h from the first reference height H1to a piling stopping height H2, the indication rod 6d indicates the piling stopping height H2.
