PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base structure of a metal pipe column preventing a nut from being loosened by an artificial malice by eliminating inconvenience caused by projection of an anchor bolt end and a locknut part from a base plate mounted to the lower part of the metal pipe column. SOLUTION: The base structure of the metal pipe column is constituted by inserting the anchor bolt 6 embedded in a foundation 5 in a state of projecting one end from the upper face of the foundation, into an anchor bolt insertion hole 13 in the base plate 10 mounted to the lower part of the metal pipe column, and fastening the anchor bolt with one locknut 7 with a polygonal outer surface. A locking hardware 11 with its inner surface shaped to fit to at least one part of the outer side face of the locknut 7 and with its outer periphery having an extended part or a projecting part 9, is fit to the outer periphery of the nut 7 with the inner surface fastened, and the extended part 9 is fixed to the base plate 10.
