PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass frit for forming an insulating layer free from PbO in a glass composition of forming the insulating layer for the purpose of preventing environmental pollution. SOLUTION: The leadless borosilicate glass frit for forming an insulating layer has a fundamental glass composition comprising 16 to 32 mol% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 4 to 8 mol% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 20 to 35 mol% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and two or more kinds selected from Li<SB>2</SB>O, Na<SB>2</SB>O and K<SB>2</SB>O by 8 to 14 mol% in total, MgO, CaO, BaO and SrO by 3 to 16 mol% in total, 6 to 33 mol% ZnO, 0.01 to 3 mol% Cu<SB>2</SB>O and 0.01 to 1 mol% Ag<SB>2</SB>O, and in which the compositional ratio between the B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and ZnO satisfies ZnO/B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>=0.27 to 1.3. In the glass frit, grain sizes are regulated in such a manner that the average particle diameters are controlled to 1 to 5μm and the maximum particle diameters are controlled to≤20μm. The glass frit has a glass transition point of≤500°C and the average linear expansion coefficient of 65 to 80×10<SP>-7</SP>/°C, and has water resistance satisfying the waterproof loss value of≤0.1 mg/cm<SP>2</SP>.
