PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly detect the rotation state of a stirring member by a drive means. SOLUTION: The garbage disposer is provided with a disposer body 10 having a treatment tank 20; the stirring member 25 for stirring the garbage and a treatment material; the drive means (drive motor 39) for rotating/driving the stirring member 25; a rotation detection means (photo-sensor 42) for detecting the rotation circumstance of the stirring member 25 by the drive means; and a control means (micro-computer 63) for controlling action of the stirring member 25 by the drive means based on a detection value of the rotation detection means. A torque adjustment means (micro-computer 63) for adjusting torque of the drive means is provided and the torque of the drive means is reduced at detection by the rotation detection means as compared with the torque in normal stirring action.
