PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical system which is adapted to a wide range of sizes of instruments, keeps seal perfectness in angulation and/or operation of an instrument in a cannula, and includes a seal assembly mountable around a surgical instrument. SOLUTION: This introducer seal assembly is a surgical system constructed so as to be mounted on a surgical portal with a passage in the longitudinal direction for making access to a body cavity; which is an instrument shaft 302 of a surgical instrument 300. The instrument shaft 302 is equipped with a seal assembly received in an opening part 108 of the seal assembly to define the opening part 108 to form a substantial seal around the instrument shaft 302. The instrument 302 equipped with the seal assembly is at least partially positioned in the passage in the longitudinal direction of the surgical portal and is constituted so as to form a substantial seal in the passage in the longitudinal direction of the surgical portal.
