PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method wherein a user can confirm contents of a map displayed on a portable information terminal before the map is transmitted to the portable information terminal from an on-vehicle information terminal. SOLUTION: When takeout start is instructed by operation of an input device by the user, a summary map of a range including a destination 26 and an own-vehicle position 25 is generated based on map data in accordance with a screen size of PDA2. When generation of the summary map is completed, an image of a metaphor 27 imitating the PDA2 is displayed on a screen of a display monitor 16.
