PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device for vehicles in which the breaking of a reference connecting wire is detected with a simple circuit configuration, and charge and discharge are performed while protecting a battery module. SOLUTION: A power supply device for vehicles includes a battery 1 for connecting in series a plurality of battery modules 2 to plus side and minus side of a reference point 8, and a voltage detection circuit 3 for detecting the voltages of one or a plurality of battery modules 2 relative to the reference point 8 of the battery 1. The power supply device connects the reference point 8 of the battery 1 to the voltage detection circuit 3 via a reference connecting wire 9, connects voltage detection point 7 of the battery 1 to voltage detection circuit 3 via a voltage detection wire 10, and detects the voltages of the voltage detection point 7 by the voltage detection circuit 3 to detect the voltages of the battery modules 2. The voltage detection circuit 3 with a detection switch 12 being changed over to OFF and being connected to a voltage detecting wire 10, and the detection switch 12 detects the voltages of the voltage detection point 7, and detects the breaking of reference connecting wire 9 from the detected voltages.
