摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head which is equipped with a function to control a gap between a magnetic head element and a magnetic disk to smaller value and can reduce fluctuations of reproduction output and a noise under reproduction output since a magnetic domain structure of a shield layer is stable at the time of readout operation. SOLUTION: The thin film magnetic head is equipped with a read-out magnetic head element containing 1st and 2nd shield layers and a write-in magnetic head element containing 1st and 2nd magnetic pole layers, wherein this 2nd shield layer and the 1st magnetic pole layer are positioned adjacent and facing mutually. A magnetic field impression means which can impress a magnetic field for initialization in the track width direction is prepared in this 2nd shield layer or the 1st and 2nd shield layers. The thin film magnetic head in which at least a part of this magnetic field impression means is located between the 2nd shield layer and the 1st magnetic pole layer is provided.
