<p>A recording medium playback device where the space for storing a cleaning means can be prevented from increasing, and labor or time required for removing foreign matters from a reading section can be prevented from increasing. A CD player (1) comprises a disc playback section including a pickup playback section (55) and a disc detection mechanism (91). The pickup playback section (55) has a lens (78) facing an information recording surface of a CD (2), and an optical pickup (66) for reading out information from the CD (2). The disc detection mechanism (91) has a disc detection arm (92) having a cleaning member (94) installed on it. While the optical pickup (66) stops reading information, the disc detection arm (92) is moved to cause the cleaning member (94) to be in sliding contact with the lens (78), by which foreign matters adhering to the lens (78) are removed.</p> |
