A seedling recipient, a process for producing a seedling recipient and a process for seedling growth and planting, comprising a tubular body (10) with a closed end (11) and an open end (12) and which is dimensioned to contain a culture medium (MC) for retention and growth of the seedling, said tubular body (10) being formed of a biodegradable polymer, in which the density and structure of its walls are dimensioned to lead to a recipient degradation rate compatible with the expected root development of the seedling and with the environmental characteristics of the planting field. Said process for producing a seedling recipient comprises the steps of: predetermining the density and structure of the walls of the tubular body (10) according to a desired degradation rate compatible with the expected root development of the seedling and with the environmental characteristics of the planting field; and molding the tubular body (10) from the biodegradable polymer.
