PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polyethylene-based porous film which has both the excellent water proofness and moisture permeability and the high weather resistance and light resistance. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a polyethylene-based porous film, comprising pore-forming by orientating a film consisting of 100 parts by mass of a polyethylene-based resin, 50-100 parts by mass of an inorganic filler, 0.5-20 parts by mass of titanium oxide and 0.2-5 parts by mass of a hindered amine-based light stabilizer, is characterized in that the above film is orientated biaxially and thus an areal draw ratio at the time of the orientating is from more than 2 times to not more than 3.5 times.
