PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an appropriate POI retrieval even when a POI in an area wherein data is not updated is retrieved. SOLUTION: In a map database 2, map data whose data can be partially updated and which at least includes POI data is stored. A navigation operation control section 7 specifies an object area for retrieving POI, and checks whether the map data in the specified object area for retrieving out of the map data stored in the map database 2 is the latest data or not. When the map data is judged not to be the latest data, POI retrieval is performed by obtaining the POI data included in the object area for retrieving from an information center 20.
