PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing device, by which the content information is reproducible independently of whether an RFID chip is mounted or not, and further failure to remember a return expiration is prevented, and also to provide a rental system using the information reproducing device. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with: a read means for reading a loan term information including a content title and the return expiration which are written into an outside of control information recording area of a large capacity storage medium of optical disk; a time management means for counting a date and a time; a comparison means for comparing the present date and time read out by the time management means with the return expiration read out by the read-out means; an output means for notifying the return expiration to the outside when the present date and time have reached the return expiration in the comparison result; and a tray control means for opening a door of the tray when the state of the large capacity storage medium of optical disk being placed on the tray is detected, whereon the large capacity storage medium of optical disk is to be placed, and carrying away the large capacity storage medium of optical disk to the outside.
