PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support roll press dent preventive device capable of preventing galling of a support roll occurring when the line is stopped, and preventing press dents of a steel plate occurring when the operation of the line is re-started. SOLUTION: The support roll press dent preventive device has a metal plate push-up device to push up a metal plate push-up member (5) arranged below a traveling metal plate while the metal plate is traveling, or push up a metal plate (1) to the position at which the metal plate and a support roll (4) are not brought into contact with each other while the metal plate is stopped on at least one of the upstream side and the downstream side in the metal strip traveling direction of each support roll (4) in a horizontal heating furnace (2) with a single or a plurality of support rolls (4) being arranged therein.
