A cable or chain locking system, especially for securing bicycles or motor cycles, has a reinforcing frame (9) fitted inside the lock housing and with the free ends of the frame overlapping and secured by rivets or other fasteners. One end of the cable/chain (1, 2) is secured to the reinforcing frame while the other end is fitted with a profiled shaft which locates into the lock and is secured by a locking catch.
