The demand value e.g. carrying weight, of a road section (2) is determined at one or more measuring points (3) arranged with several sensors (4). The demand value is compared with a permissible or tolerance value using a computer. If the demand value exceeds the permissible value, the vehicle (1) running in the road section is identified with a recognition device (5). If the demand value is under the permissible value, the vehicle is not identified. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for vehicle identification.
