<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent breakage of an engine part. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus equipped with the engine part comprises a control part which generates a first clock signal, an engine driving part which generates a second clock signal that drives the engine part on the basis of the first clock signal, and a monitoring part which stops the operation of the control part on the basis of the second clock signal.
