<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a position gap measuring method for measuring position gap between positions being written, respectively, with a different writing unit exactly. <P>SOLUTION: When each image Ga, Gb being written by a writing head 10a, 10b, respectively, is written on a recording medium 1 such that the position of the edge Fa, Fb matches each other, pixels Qa(n-5) and Qb(1) adjacent to a blank are written contiguously to the opposite sides of a blank pixel group J5 without writing the blank pixel group J5 consisting of a predetermined number of pixels including at least any one of pixels Qa(n) and Qb(1) in respective images Ga and Gb being written contiguously to each other while holding the edges Fa and Fb between and arranged in a direction intersecting the extending direction of the edge Fa, Fb.
