PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adhesion ability of a plastic surface by a simple procedure. SOLUTION: The adhesive ability of a plastic surface can be improved by a simple procedure comprising irradiating the surface with a vacuum UV ray having a wave length of 172-126 nm in a gaseous oxidizing agent atmosphere. In this method, the adhesive ability can be homogeneously improved, when no etching treatment is conducted, without degradation of the inner part of the plastic and without damaging the material characteristics of the plastic (heat resistance, electric insulation, electric characteristics, and the like).
