PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve superior characteristics of guiding and discharging waste ink without the ink left staying, and to prevent ink smudging of a material to be recorded as a result of contact with a recording head caused by unprepared floating of a waste ink guiding and discharging member. SOLUTION: A waste ink guiding and discharging apparatus 1 comprises communication parts 38 set at both end parts in a longitudinal direction of the waste ink guiding and discharging member 33. The communication part 38 is bent to the side of a waste ink absorbing body part 32. A gap G is formed between the communication part 38 and at least one inner wall face 34 in the longitudinal direction of a waste ink dumping recess 31. Moreover, a projecting part 39 is formed at least in one of the both end parts in the longitudinal direction of the waste ink guiding and discharging member 33.
