PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of generating a suitable message correspondingly to the change or addition of multimedia data which can be reproduced by an opposite party. SOLUTION: The portable terminal device comprises a terminal information storage 108 for storing a multimedia data format which can be reproduced in each terminal; a reception part 122 for receiving a message from a communication terminal; an extraction part 126 for extracting the terminal type of a transmitting source from the header information of a received message; a machine type registration part 128 for registering the extracted terminal type in an address book storage 106 correspondingly to the address information of the communication terminal; a transmission part 104 for transmitting a message to an address along with data attached therewith; a judgment part 116 for acquiring the terminal sort of a destination from an address book, acquiring the format of the terminal sort from the terminal information storage 108, and judging whether the attached data have a reproducible format or not; and a notification part 117 for notifying a user of a non-reproducible format when the format of the attached data is not reproducible.
