PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device and a method of controlling the same, wherein a broadcast station can be pinpointed, and broadcast program information can be acquired even when broadcasting electro-magnetic waves which are emitted from a different broadcast station depending on an area are received nevertheless frequencies are the same. SOLUTION: The data processing device is equipped with a recording unit which records the inputted broadcast data corresponding to broadcast signals and a control unit which acquires the broadcast program information data containing the broadcast time information and the broadcast content information corresponding to the broadcast data from outside, resting on the broadcast data recording time data and self-position data which are inputted from outside and corresponding to a self-current position when the broadcast data are recorded, and lets the recording unit record the broadcast program information data, relating them with the broadcast data in a one-to-one correspondence.
