POLYVINYLPYRROLIDONE COMPOSITION AND ITS MANUFACTURING PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality polyvinylpyrrolidone composition in the form of solid or an aqueous solution and a simple and easy process for manufacturing the composition. SOLUTION: The polyvinylpyrrolidone composition takes the form of solid or an aqueous solution and contains ammonia and a secondary amine. The solid polyvinylpyrrolidone composition is obtained by heating and drying an aqueous solution of a polyvinylpyrrolidone containing ammonia and a secondary amine. The polyvinylpyrrolidone composition in the form of an aqueous solution is obtained by adding a secondary amine to an aqueous solution containing a polyvinylpyrrolidone and ammonia or by polymerizing N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone in the presence of a metal catalyst and ammonia and a secondary amine as co-catalysts and hydrogen peroxide as a polymerization initiator in an aqueous medium.
