The invention relates to a screw-type extruder for treating rubber, which comprises a cylinder having an insert area wherein a feed roller and an inlet are arranged. The cylinder comprises grooves in the insert area on the inner side thereof. Grooves are arranged in a diagonal manner in relation to the screw thread on the inner side of the cylinder which leads to an increased pressure throughput ratio, and the grooves are also arranged in the direction of the cylinder axis, only on a partial area of the insert area, and are embodied in the cylinder section below the inlet.
