The invention relates to a cam (1) which is constituted of at least two separately produced individual components from different materials and/or having different material properties. One of the individual components is configured as a peripheral cam profile (4) for actuating a cam profile element (2) having a cam follower and the other individual component is configured as a cam component (3) that is firmly connected to the cam profile element (2). The aim of the invention is to simplify assembly and reduce the space required by said cam. The cam profile element (2) consists of a material whose properties meet the special requirements for stresses produced when the cam follower is actuated. The cam component is configured as a supplemental function element (3) that comprises at least one supplemental function surface (5) provided for carrying out a supplemental cam function. Said supplemental function element (3) consists of a material whose properties meet the special requirements resulting from carrying out the supplemental cam function.
