The device comprises a polygonal shaft (1) for being inserted into the clamping unit of an electric screwdriver. Two rectangular clamping jaws (5,6) are accommodated between the lateral segments of the u-shaped head (2) and can be moved with spindles (8) towards a hook to be held between them. A groove (10) at the bottom (9) of the clamping head (2) facilitates a precise positioning when the hook is screwed to the ceiling.
