PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact member having good electric contact and high corrosion resistant property. SOLUTION: The surface of the contact member is made amorphous and flattened by applying continuous high speed jet collision (shot) of ball-shaped alumina particles having a diameter of 20μm of which curvature is larger than that of an indentation, a crystal grain boundary, a structural defect or the like (hereinafter, referred as indentation) of a surface of a phosphor bronze base plate, for one minute against the surface of the base plate; by making whole surface amorphous by applying repeated fusion and rapid cooling on respective minute points within a short period; and by applying the collision of ball-shaped alumina particles having a diameter of 50μm of which curvature is smaller than that of the indentation after the above treatment. By the above, the surface of the contact member is turned into a structure composed of a passivated layer 13b1 formed by natural oxidation, an amorphous layer 13b2 laid thereunder, and a fine crystalline layer 13b3 in which crystal size becomes gradually larger as it is headed down ward, laid on a basic material layer 13b4.
