PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication data updating system, a master terminal, a slave terminal, an authentication data updating method, a program, and a recording medium preventing misconceptions in updating key data in the case of being out of the running or in a power off state. SOLUTION: A slave portable information terminal can be in communication with a server, and when an authentication data updating request signal is transmitted to the server from a master information terminal, the server transmits authentication data for updating to the slave portable information terminal to allow an optional change of the authentication data. Misconceptions in updating key data in the case of being out of the running or in the power off state can thereby be prevented while improving security, and convenience in changing a key is improved by confirming communication possibility of the slave portable information terminal when rewriting the authentication data.
