A surface acoustic device is provided with a piezoelectric substrate and a cover which face each other at a prescribed interval. On a cover side main plane of the piezoelectric substrate, a comb-shaped electrode and a pad electrode are provided, and on a cover plane on the opposite side to the piezoelectric substrate, an external terminal is provided. Furthermore, the surface acoustic device is provided with a connecting electrode for electrically connecting the pad electrode with the external terminal, and an insulator between at least the piezoelectric substrate or the pad electrode, and the cover.
