<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit image information of a desired capacity when a restraint of a transmission capacity is incurred. <P>SOLUTION: An image information display system comprises: a media receiver 2 for inputting media information, etc: and a PDP device 4 for displaying and reproducing the media information, etc. The encoder 22 of the media receiver 2 converts the input image signal of N bits (N: a natural number) into an image information signal of R bits (R: a natural number satisfying N). The image information signal of R bits is sent from the media receiver 2 to the PDP device 4.
