PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an organic EL element with an organic light emitting layer of uniform thickness without defects, using letterpress. SOLUTION: A letterpress used for printing has a dummy region of outer edge and an image forming region of its inside. The dummy region which tends to get uneven printing pressure at printing is not used to form the organic light emitting layer on an electrode but the inner image forming region which gets even printing pressure is only used to print the layer on the electrode.
