PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hardly cause buckling on the occurrence of a fire, while preventing damage to a glass plate. SOLUTION: In this glass plate fixing structure, both ends 7 and 8, in the direction of the action of a compressive force, of the glass plate 4, whereon the compressive force F acts, are fitted into recessed groove parts 12 of fixing metal fittings 10 and 11 which are provided on the side of a skeleton A, and each of the ends is fixed in the state of inhibiting relative displacement in the direction of the thickness of the glass plate with respect to the recessed groove. A rigid material B, the elastic modulus of which is smaller than that of plate glass 19 constituting the glass plate and which is equipped with fire resistance, inhibits the relative displacement, in the direction of the thickness of the glass plate, with respect to the recessed groove.
