PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car ceiling illumination device allowing easy execution of the maintenance and inspection of the ceiling of an elevator car and also evacuation in case of emergency. SOLUTION: A first 25 and a second guide rail 26 are installed on the sides of a suspended ceiling 20 provided on the elevator car ceiling. The elevator is put in service in the condition that rollers of an illuminating plate 22 furnished on the sides with rollers 27 and an illuminating plate 23 furnished on the sides with rollers 28 are placed on the first guide rail 25. At the time of maintenance and inspection, the illumination plate 22 is raised with its horizontal attitude kept as it is. At this time, the rollers 27 get on the second guide rail 26 upon passing through a notch 32 in the first guide rail 25 and notch 33 in the second guide rail 26. The maintenance and inspection and so on are executed while the illumination plates 22 and 23 are moved along the guide rails 25 and 26, respectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
