Controlling temperature of temperature sensitive commodity involves activating an indicator with the same temperature as the e.g. foodstuff, to be controlled. The color of the indicator is changed with the change of temperature of the stuff upon exceeding a predetermined temperature, during the transport or storage of the stuff, where the color change is irreversible. The indicator comprises a straight chained hydrocarbon compound, coloring material and a bonding agent. An independent claim is also included for an application of an indicator for controlling a perishable stuff such as foodstuff.
