<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian detecting system capable of determining whether an article colliding with a vehicle is a pedestrian or not. <P>SOLUTION: The pedestrian detecting system comprises a touch sensor 2 attached to a vehicle and detecting contact with the vehicle; an acceleration sensor 3 attached to the vehicle; and a computing means 4 connected to the touch sensor 2 and the acceleration sensor 3, and carrying out collision determination on the basis of an output signal from the touch sensor 2 and an output signal from the acceleration sensor 3. The pedestrian detecting system measures time since the touch sensor detects collision until deceleration by the acceleration sensor, deformation speed, or change appear, and carries out collision determination by the computing means, thereby accurately the article colliding with the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
