PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve and stabilize accuracy of a tuning-fork vibrating gyroscope in detecting angular velocities by reducing asymmetric vibrations of drive legs due to crystal anisotropy without having to depend on machining and adjusting a vibrator after manufacture.
SOLUTION: The vibrator 1 is made of a piezoelectric single crystal. When the lengths of the drive legs 11a and 11b in the direction of drive vibrations in a plane intersecting with a longitudinal axis at right angles are each defined as the width of each drive leg, the width Wa of the drive leg 11a is different from the width Wb of the drive leg 11b, and Wa>Wb. Biases appearing in detection legs are offset by the interaction between the vertical asymmetricity of distortions in a body part 10 due to a supporting member supporting the vibrator 1 and the lateral asymmetricity of drive vibrations due the crystal anisotropy of the vibrator 1 to reduce biases.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
